History

  1. 1977 The kwanza enters circulation in place of the Angolan escudo at equal value.
  2. 1990 The novo kwanza replaces the first kwanza without changing its unit value.
  3. 1995 The readjusted kwanza replaces 1,000 novos kwanzas in July.
  4. 1999 On 12 November the current kwanza replaces 1,000,000 readjusted kwanzas.
