History

  1. 1949 The Central Bank of the Philippines opens on 3 January.
  2. 1993 The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas replaces the Central Bank of the Philippines as the country’s central monetary authority.
  3. 1997 On 11 July the Bangko Sentral stops intervening to defend the peso, which then depreciates during the Asian financial crisis.
